You may not understand this one at first, but by the end of this post I think you will, so make sure to read to the end. It will all make sense then.
Day 10: My Truck Wreck
We were stopped behind a truck who was about to turn into a gas station, and a truck came up behind us, and due to the fog, did not see us until it was too late, and then he hit us. We flew around the truck in front of us, and he then hit that truck. As he hit the truck in front of us, it flipped over 1 1/2 times and slid towards the gas pumps and station.
I got checked out, and they told me I would probably be sore the next day but seemed to be alright. BOY WERE THEY WRONG.
For many months after that, I suffered through the most intense pain in my life. Months of therapy, MRI's and many doctors visits and tests completed. In the end, they found out that the impact had caused one of my discs to rupture, making spinal fluid leak out onto my nerves, and the disc above that was bulging and pressing my sciatic nerve.
I admit after the wreck I was pretty bitter at the person who hit me, even though I could not tell you his name. There I sat at Christmas, having issues paying my bills, as my STD through my job did not go through until 2 weeks AFTER I returned to work!! All I could think was he was at home happy with his children and family having a good Christmas, and I was in pain and could not get presents for my family.
So, you want to know why I am thankful for that wreck? Well the reason is a very good one!
After years of fighting the insurance companies, I finally received a settlement for the wreck. It was not huge, but it was a nice one. Just enough to start our wrecker company, A Bay Towing.
So remember, everything happens for a reason, and even a devastating event can turn into soemthing positive, you just have to have faith, and give it time to come to fruition!
Are you playing along with me? IF so what are you thankful for on Day 10?
