Ofelia & I met in 1987, yes we have been best friends for 28 years. Our parents were military, and we met at Croughton High School in Croughton, England. And since we met, we have never really lost touch. Being in the military life, you make friends quickly, and as soon as you make them they are gone, or you are gone, and you can't ever seem to stay in touch with all the moving we do. But that is not the case for us. No matter if it is 1 or 5 years, we always find each other, and make it a point to meet up whenever we can.
Here is a picture of a Canal trip we went on while we were in England. We actually lived on the canal boat for 1 week, worked the locks, cooked our own meals, and had a great time doing it. It is an experience I think that we will all remember for the rest of our lives. (Don't mind the pictures, remember this was in 1987 or 1988 :) )
Now we all have tons of "friends" on facebook, twitter, instagram etc. but think about it, how many truly BEST FRIENDS do you have in your day to day life? Probably not as many as you need. I am very thankful for all my friends on facebook, I feel as if I know them just like I would the next door neighbor, and they are great to have. But friends like Ofelia are like finding that one pearl in the oyster among a million, very rare.
So take some time from your busy schedule, and have coffee, or lunch or just give them a call, because you are lucky to have them in your lives, just as they are to have you in theirs.
