Whether you are a Trump or a Hillary supporter, to me it does not matter, as you are entitled to your opinion, just as much as I am. But I have seen SO MANY posts with statements like: "If you support (insert candidates name here) then just unfriend me now". I have seen people who have been friends for MANY MANY years, unfriend each other because they do not support the same candidate.
So my question is, were they REALLY your friend? Did you ever really care about them? If so, why would you unfriend them, cut them off so to speak, just because they feel differently than you do? This is why I choose not to post ANYTHING about the presidential campaign, for fear that friends will delete me just because they disagree.
So how do you handle this? I have a few pointers for you, and I think this will save you a lot of heartache and lost friends.
If you support Candidate A, but a good friend supports Candidate B, you can go to their profile, and click "UNFOLLOW". At that point, you are still friends, but you will no longer see their posts. You can still go view their page whenever you feel like it, and after the election, you can follow them again.
Think LONG & HARD before deleting a friend or even a family member because you support different candidates. If you have been friends for a long period of time, and you really care about them,, you would not DELETE them just because of it (or you were never really a TRUE FRIEND to them).
Don't make crazy statements like "If Candidate X wins I am moving to Canada". Because once the election is over, and if Candidate X wins, and you stay in the US then it just makes you out to be a "Drama Queen" and nobody will trust anything you say.
So what are your thoughts on this matter? Do you think Facebook & Politics mix or not? Have you lost any friends because of your choice of Presidential Candidates?
I would love to hear your thoughts!
